Assess an individual’s thoughts, attitudes and intentions regarding suicide

The Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation® (BSS®) is a valuable tool for clinicians to examine suicidal intent in clients. Developed for use with clients of 17 years and over, the BSS® provides a good starting point for a clinician’s more detailed examination of a client’s suicidal intent.

The BSS measures attitudes and behaviours that clinicians routinely consider when assessing a client’s suicide risk. The BSS is also useful for monitoring the suicide ideation of clients who are known to be at risk for suicide.

Age range: 17 years and older
